What do you want to be different?

Maybe you're sick of having the same fight over and over with your partner and you're finally ready to give couples therapy a try. Maybe you feel stuck in some areas of your life, struggling to break free of old patterns. Maybe you've just received a diagnosis or gone through a life experience that feels impossible to sort out alone. Psychodynamic therapy has been transformative in my own life, and it is a pleasure and honor to get to help others in the same way. I specialize in supporting people in their relationships, health concerns, and navigating the people, systems, and workplaces they may need, but can't always trust.

Rachel Quintas, PhD, clinical psychologist

I value working as precisely and effectively as possible, because by the time a person or a couple comes to me, they have usually tried lots of other things and have gotten used to feeling worn out. I know that the hope that brings you here is precious and often hard-won, and my aim is to honor that hope by giving it structure and purpose.

To my mind, the whole point of therapy is that we can talk about things you can’t in the same way with anyone else in your life - what saddens or scares or exhausts you about yourself or your partner, what makes you (seemingly) disproportionately angry, what activates your loneliness even with the people who know you best - the real stuff. I’m good at listening for themes - your expectations from other people, your hesitations around what to say (and where you might’ve learned to hesitate in those ways), or your instinctive ways of coping when you feel vulnerable or overwhelmed. I will share my impressions of what you tell me, with the genuine desire to hear your thoughts about it as the expert on yourself, so we can understand together. I am also pretty funny and might make you laugh (in service of your therapeutic goals).
