Meet the team

Warm, engaged, and direct.

Trust in therapy is earned over time. You can bring your skepticism, humor, contradictions, and the parts of your story that do not fit neatly into a diagnosis.

Rachel Buxbaum Quintas, Ph.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, supervisor at the LIU Brooklyn clinical psychology Ph.D. program, and Assistant Professor at Montefiore–Einstein.

My work is grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy and informed by Gottman couples therapy, CBT, trauma-focused care, family systems, and years of experience in medical settings. My research and advocacy have focused on medical and cultural mistrust, narrative justice in healthcare, and the ways institutions shape our inner lives.

My style is active and collaborative. I listen carefully and with curiosity, as well as being open and transparent with you about my impressions and thought processes as I get to know you better. I will always turn to you as the expert on yourself and what it feels like to be you, while helping you build a more productive experience with yourself and the people you love.

I use psychodynamic therapy, which helps you get to know yourself more deeply and feel more alive, comfortable, and intentional in your relationships. I specialize in individual and couples therapy, with advanced training in the Gottman Method. You are always welcome to call with any questions or to feel out if we’re the right fit. I look forward to getting to know you.
